Valley View Center has served the North Dallas community for over 30 years. Located at the corner of Preston and LBJ Freeway, the Center features Macy's, Dillard's, JCPenney, Sears and the new AMC Valley View 16 Theatres, plus over 170 specialty shops and eateries, soft play area, and a new, 36' Victorian Carousel.

In 1965, Sears Roebuck and Company opened a freestanding store on the far northern fringe of Dallas. The LBJ Freeway had not yet been constructed and the site was largely surrounded by pastureland. In August of 1973, Valley View Center was created when Homart Development Company added a Sanger-Harris department store (now Foley's) to the site and connected it to Sears with a corridor of specialty shops.

In 1979, as the north Dallas area was starting to surge, Dillard's was added to Valley View Center. This was followed by further expansion of the interior mall, and the construction of a Bloomingdale's store. LaSalle Street Fund purchased the Center in the early 1980's and expanded it once again. In 1990, Bloomingdales closed its only Texas location and Valley View used this as an opportunity to renovate the property once again.

In late 1996, The Macerich Company, now Macerich, purchased Valley View Center and JCPenney opened their beautiful flagship store in the space previously occupied by Bloomingdales.

Early in 1998, Valley View announced plans to begin extensive exterior redevelopment which will include updated mall entrances, new interior and exterior signage and new landscaping. Since the Center was acquired by Macerich, several initial stages of redevelopment have been completed including the removal of several center court structures, the addition of a state-of-the-art security and surveillance system and new outdoor lighting program.
